Summary:
Performs a variety of duties to purchase supplies and materials for the central supply warehouse and the school district according to established policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Stock Central Supply warehouse: determines needs, researches past vendors, brands, and usage, compares prices and brands, contacts vendors, add or change products as needed.
2. Prepares requests for quotations and analyzes results.
3. Prepares and distributes purchase orders; expedites deliveries and shipment.
4. Follows up with vendors to ensure meeting required delivery dates.
5. Maintains files and records of current and potential suppliers, catalogs, materials, prices, delivery dates and inventories.
6. Maintains pertinent state price agreements/awards from on-line web site.
7. Participates in CEPC (Cooperative Education Purchasing Council) to utilize and facilitate cooperative bids.
8. Provides assistance to all departments and schools in locating competitive sources for purchasing supplies and materials not stocked in Central Supply.
9. Provides current company discount info on Intranet site.
10. Supports the district’s Hazardous Material program (collecting MSCS information, etc.)
11. Assists with formal bid preparation, bid openings, recaps, and mailings.
12. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
13. Familiar with Integrated Financial Management Systems
Education and Training:
High school diploma, GED or any combination of experience and education equivalent to the completion of a 12th grade education. 2-3 years purchasing experience, preferably for a public entity. Professional purchasing certification (CPM, CPPB or CPPO) preferred.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Extensive personal computer skills; with proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet and data base application.
2. Interpersonal skills to work effectively with district employees, vendors, warehouse, and purchasing staff members.
3. Excellent oral/written communication and personal organization skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Experience in automated purchasing systems.
